Application Information
Cornhusker Marching Band leadership interviews will be live via Zoom. Each candidate will be sent a meeting date and time as well as a Zoom link after the application has been received. Applications must be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to the earliest requested interview date M-F. Applications submitted after 5:00 PM on a Friday will not be eligible for a Monday morning interview.
You may save a partially completed leadership application and return to submit the form at a later date. The link to the form may be found below.
- List previous leadership positions, if any. Include experience from high school, the Cornhusker Marching Band, or at work.
- Briefly state why you want to be a Cornhusker Marching Band Leader. You may send more detailed information to band@unl.edu (PDF format), if you wish.
Brass and woodwind candidates should give us two interview date preferences, if possible.

Drum Major Audition Videos Due
Drum Major audition videos are due on Friday, March 28. Please submit the audition video via Yuja.
Drum Major Training Clinics
Mace work is not part of the audition and will not be covered during the clinics. Please be familiar with the prepared audition piece posted below before attending the clinics.

Drum Major Audition Requirements
- Conduct the National Anthem as you sing it (no metronome or recording allowed)
- March two boxes of slides (R or L) and two boxes of Flanks (R or L)
- Demonstrate the drum major “lean back”
- Demonstrate slow (Q=96) and fast (Q=132 – No Place Tempo) strut
- Demonstrate double time
- Teach your choice of marching fundamental from the following: Parade Rest/Attention, Strut, e-&-ah’s, Backward March, to an imaginary incoming freshman in preparation for their second Round Audition. This clip should not exceed 3 minutes in length.
- Conduct the assigned piece (link below) along with the recording, from memory. Download the score and recording file from the links below.
